They look like you. But they are not like you. And they never forget a broken promise.
Humanoid fae are the closest to mortal in appearance — and the farthest in intention. Beautiful, strange, and impossibly sharp, these fae navigate the world through politics, charm, manipulation, and riddles. They are courtiers, tricksters, seers, and thieves; embodiments of folklore in lace and blood. While not as physically powerful as their beast or elemental kin, they are some of the most dangerous because they play by rules you didn’t know existed, and you won’t realize you lost until they smile.
Level One Magic (innate)
- Silver Tongue: They can infuse their speech with subtle magic making compliments stick, doubts creep in, or commands sound more reasonable. This does not control minds, but can tip conversations, sow confusion, or enchant a willing listener. (Can be enhanced with Patron influence)
- Glamourcraft (Refined): While all fae possess glamour, humanoid fae are masters of it. They can alter clothing, height, voice, and expression with near-flawless precision. Their illusion may not hold under divine scrutiny, but to mortals, it is indistinguishable from reality.
- Name Sense: When someone offers their name willingly to a humanoid fae, that fae can sense their emotional state and roughly locate them for a time. Names carry power, and to speak them with intent is to invite connection.
Physical Attributes
- Delicately Inhuman: Though they appear mortal, there’s always something uncanny, too symmetrical, too still, or too radiant. Their glamour is exquisite, but their truth is always watching.
- Fine Features & Detail: Wings, glowing eyes, silver veins, shifting hair colors, or melodic voices are common. These features may only appear in moonlight, reflection, or when glamour slips.
- Effortless Poise: They move with unnatural elegance, seemingly untouched by time or fatigue. Their expressions are carefully chosen, never accidental.
- Seasonal Shifts: Some humanoid fae are affected by seasonal, lunar, or emotional cycles, subtly changing their appearance or energy throughout the year.
Personality and Behavior
- Etiquette-Obsessed: Manners are sacred. Names, introductions, gifts, and hospitality follow rigid, ancient laws. Breaking these may invoke curses or duels. If they speak a promise aloud, it becomes binding. Many avoid giving clear answers to protect themselves.
- Terrifying Kindness: Their hospitality is legendary and often lethal. If a fae offers you a drink or gift, be sure of the price before accepting. If offered food, shelter, or favor in the “right way,” a humanoid fae may be magically obligated to repay the courtesy or unable to cause harm until the exchange is complete.
- Emotionally Subtle: Unlike their beast or elemental cousins, humanoid fae hide their feelings. Anger becomes a compliment. Love is an insult. Nothing is straightforward. They do not forget slights. Ever. Their revenge may take years, and it will be poetic, personal, and perfectly timed.

- Brownies: Domestic spirits of hearth and home, protective, loyal, and dangerous when angered or insulted. Do not touch their things.
